3 Reasons to Install a Roof Rack on Your Car Before a Camping Holiday
If you'll drive to your family camping destination, then you might make your packing and journey easier if you install a roof rack on your car. What are the benefits of doing this?
1. Create More Space
While camping holidays might feel fairly free and easy, you have to do a fair amount of planning before you head off. If you're taking your own tent and camping gear, you'll have to find a way to get these key essentials in your car together with everything else your family wants to take. This isn't always an easy job. Your tent, cooking equipment and bedding will take up a lot of room. Once you add cases and bags with your clothes and holiday essentials, then you might not have much room left at all.
So, your boot might be crammed full. Your family might be hemmed in by bags. You're not likely to have a comfortable drive to your site if nobody has any space to relax in. Your journey could get fractious and unpleasant. If you install a roof rack, then you can load some of your stuff on to it. This gives you more space to play with and, hopefully, a more relaxed journey.
2. Avoid Sports Hire Costs
If you want to make the most of your camping trip, then you might plan some outdoor activities. For example, you might surf if you're visiting the coast; you might take long bike rides in the country.
However, you might end up paying more than you'd like to do these activities. You might have to hire surfboards, wetsuits, bikes and helmets. This can be galling if you have this gear at home already. If you install a roof rack, then you can take your own gear with you. You can stick surfboards and bikes on some racks. You won't have to pay to hire any kit.
3. Get a Safe Space for Flammable Materials
You might want to take some flammable materials with you for your trip. For example, if you've got a long and remote drive, then you might want some extra petrol in case you can't fill up on the road. If you're taking a camping barbecue and have a spare LPG gas canister, you might want to take that.
You shouldn't really store combustible fuels in your car. They can release toxic fumes which could make you and your passengers sick. However, if you have a roof rack, then you can put these materials on there as long as you stow them safely and protect them from the sun.
